Susan Gartenberg, M.Ed, LPC-S, RPT-S
I have always believed that children are pure potential. As the adults in their lives, our role is to help unlock that potential by being present, caring, and affirming. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to work with children in a therapeutic way. While raising my four daughters, I returned to graduate school and earned credentials as both a School Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I am also a Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S).
Throughout my journey, one thing has remained constant: my awe at the resilience of children and the limitless possibilities of who they can become. I’m committed to growing alongside the children and families I serve—always learning, always honoring their unique stories.
Play therapy is the cornerstone of my practice, guided by a multimodal approach. While play may appear simple on the surface, therapeutic play is far from one-size-fits-all. By drawing from multiple schools of thought, I’m able to tailor each session to meet the unique needs of every child and their caregivers—creating space for connection, healing, and growth.
Collaboration is at the heart of my work. I aim to meet with parents and caregivers every four to six sessions to share progress and insights. In addition, I offer weekly sessions for parents and caregivers, providing ongoing support and coaching tailored to your family's needs.
Please call to inquire about my fee structure. All situations are unique and I want to make sure your child is being cared for in the best way possible. At this time I do not take insurance. Private pay offers the opportunity to develop a treatment plan to meet your child’s specific needs, not one based on a specific diagnosis. Many clients enjoy having this autonomy when it comes to mental health. If you would like to file with your insurance I can provide you with the needed documentation to file an out of network claim.
